Playful Learning

Uno Kids ® Play, Learn

An innovative educational project designed for Primary Schools, specialized in Sustainability Education, STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics), and Teamwork through play. Since 2020, we have been designing activities across diverse school participation formats that offer boys and girls aged 6 to 12 the opportunity to learn through play: protecting biodiversity, living sustainably alongside nature, consuming responsibly, and discovering the laws of science by designing, building, and testing.

Playful Learning

The Educational Activities of Uno Kids ® Play, Learn are designed and facilitated following the principles of Playful Learning, the cornerstone of the Pedagogy of Play project developed by the Harvard Graduate School of Education (Project Zero) in collaboration with The LEGO Foundation. This initiative develops and refines playful learning concepts, materials, and strategies that help Early Childhood, Primary, and Secondary schools place play at the center of teaching and learning. The research project originated at the International School of Billund (Denmark). To explore what Playful Learning is in greater depth, we recommend reading this article published on the Harvard Graduate School of Education website.

Playful Learning

Play is essential to how children learn: how they make sense of their world, how they form and explore friendships, how they define their own ideas, or how they begin to understand the laws of nature by designing, building, and testing. However, not all types of play foster learning—Playful Learning does.

Inclusion

All activities on our Home Learning platform are inclusive (offering a free version), bilingual in Spanish and English, and supported by educational videos featuring children themselves as the protagonists. These videos enrich the learning experience, build children’s self-confidence, and spark their natural curiosity and enthusiasm to learn. It is an opportunity for younger generations to define their own values for the extraordinary challenge we all—and especially the youth—face ahead: achieving a better and more sustainable future for everyone.

Cooking Team Building: The Star of Christmas in Barcelona

Cooking Team Building: The Star of Christmas in Barcelona

A classic format that became popular over 20 years ago in the corporate events sector has firmly established itself as one of the stars of Christmas in Barcelona. Professional cooking, especially in a restaurant catering to larger groups of diners, is inconceivable without teamwork. Every member of the kitchen team plays a pivotal role in ensuring the success of a restaurant, from the executive chef to the dishwashing staff. Creating an efficient kitchen environment requires understanding each role, its significance, and the unique value that every individual brings to the team as a whole.

Team cooking was naturally not invented by the famous TV show MasterChef, created by the BBC in 1990, nor was its use as a medium for energizing work teams or simply enjoying cooking together. However, this global phenomenon undoubtedly played a massive role in popularizing it. Culinary activities tailored for corporate groups—whether competitive challenges or hands-on masterclasses—gradually gained traction in Spain throughout the early 2000s, although it was not until well into the 2010s that they became an essential classic, not only for Christmas but year-round. In Barcelona, teams can cook together right in the city center after sourcing ingredients at iconic locations like the Boqueria Market, inside rustic country estates surrounded by vineyards, or while cooking a giant paella right next to our Mediterranean sea.

As an experiential teamwork workshop, culinary team building is also a favorite choice for companies hosting international guests for corporate meetings. Stepping away from Microsoft Teams or Google Meet to share not just a meal, but an apron and a great recipe with colleagues undoubtedly creates a genuine bond outside the usual work environment, while serving as the perfect introduction to the country’s rich culinary heritage. Among local teams, however, exploring international cuisines has become increasingly popular.

SDG 6 Clean Water and Sanitation | CSR Event in Barcelona

A local company organised a Sustainable Team Building Event in Gavà ( La Ruta del Agua Solidaria | RSC ), where more than 100 participants attending the event successfully raised funds (micro-donations) for two local NGOs working towards Sustainable Development Goal 6: Clean Water and Sanitation internationally.

Two micro-donations were made: one for €500 to the NGO Pozos Sin Fronteras and another to the We Are Water Foundation for €550. Pozos Sin Fronteras has been working since 2003 to bring water to communities suffering from water scarcity and remoteness from water sources. The donation went toward the emergency water supply project for populations displaced by the Sahel crisis in Burkina Faso. The We Are Water Foundation was established in 2010 with the aim of helping solve problems caused by the lack of water and sanitation worldwide. The donation was allocated to the project improving access to water, sanitation, and hygiene for rural communities in Madagascar.

“The extraordinary work of NGOs like Pozos Sin Fronteras and We Are Water Foundation enables any company’s workforce to transform teamwork into solidarity through international projects that connect people, businesses, and NGOs with a shared purpose.”

Sailing Boat Regattas in Madrid

To organize a regatta with sailing cruisers, traveling to the coast is no longer essential. Less than 1 hour from downtown Madrid, it is possible to organize a Match Race regatta with 747 or First Class cruisers and enjoy a classic Sports Team Building Event at the San Juan Reservoir, led by top professionals.

Being part of a sailing boat crew is an extraordinary experience. Our corporate regatta program is designed for companies looking to leverage the tremendous potential of sailing to energize and unite work teams. Participants do not need any prior sailing experience or nautical knowledge. Teams consist of up to 7 members. The event kicks off with a welcome breakfast at the Club facilities overlooking the San Juan Reservoir. Next, each skipper briefs their crew on the essential sailing maneuvers: points of sail, basic navigation (reaching, running, and close-hauled), executing maneuvers, and holding course. The Race and Safety Committee monitors the entire competition from a dedicated safety motorboat.

For companies bringing spectators or guests, a cocktail reception can be organized on the Club terrace right along the start/finish line, offering optimal views to follow the race. Once the regatta concludes, following the awards ceremony, a lunch is served at the Club.

Madrid: The Perfect Setting for Team Building Events

Enjoying teamwork in the heart of Madrid or in a natural setting—taking part in an engaging activity rooted in sustainable values—is undoubtedly one of the most prominent trends in the corporate events sector.

When we think of El Retiro Park and the Paisaje de la Luz, we picture the green heart of Madrid, the city’s great natural sanctuary (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), and undoubtedly one of the top locations for hosting team building events in Madrid. However, Madrid and its surrounding region also boast unique settings with endless possibilities—from the Sierra de Guadarrama National Park to the historic centres of Segovia or Toledo, through to Alcalá de Henares, La Granja de San Ildefonso, and Aranjuez.

Enjoying teamwork right in the centre of Madrid or in a natural setting—taking part in an engaging activity rooted in sustainable values—is undoubtedly one of the most prominent trends in the corporate events sector in 2022. HR professionals from leading organisations such as Google and KPMG are already preparing for the final stretch of the year with major challenges ahead, training and motivating their workforce through, amongst others, this type of event and workshop.

“The offering of Team Building Events has evolved towards Sustainability. Our company is committed to the 2030 Agenda. We deliver sustainable, carbon-neutral events and workshops that also strengthen core teamwork values,” explain Uno+Uno Team ® The Team Building Co., specialists in Team Building Events in Madrid.

Why choose these services? Increasingly widespread hybrid working models mean colleagues see each other less often and enjoy less day-to-day personal contact. Consequently, many companies organise events and workshops to help.

SDG 2 Zero Hunger | CSR Event in Barcelona

On 7 February, a Sustainable Team Building Event was organised at Club Nàutic El Balís (Barcelona), in which participants (part of the team of a local company) successfully raised a €717 micro-donation for the NGO World Central Kitchen. The mission of WCK, founded in 2010 by Chef José Andrés, is to be first to the frontlines, providing meals in response to humanitarian, climate, and community crises.

The Sustainable Development Goal set for the event prior to the earthquake in Turkey and Syria was SDG 2 Zero Hunger, with the aim of donating the funds raised to World Central Kitchen, which carries out international projects wherever the need arises, with active projects currently in Ukraine, Chile, and since 6 February very notably also in Turkey and Syria, where at the time of publishing this news story WCK has already served over one million meals. The extraordinary work of NGOs such as World Central Kitchen and the growing interest of small and large companies in sustainable formats for their events make it possible to transform teamwork into solidarity through international projects connecting people, businesses, and NGOs with a shared purpose. The event was also carbon neutral, minimising CO2 emissions resulting from it wherever possible—using, for instance, collective transport and reusable materials (paperless)—and offsetting the remainder through tree planting.

SDG 10 Street Children Project in Peru | CSR Event in Barcelona

On December 20th, a Sustainable Team Building Event in Castelldefels (Barcelona) was organized, in which participants (part of the team of a local company) made a donation of 10 new bicycles valued at €2,099 to the “Street Children” solidarity project in Peru through the NGO Madre Coraje and Cáritas Abancay.

The initiative receiving the bicycle donation is part of the Cáritas Abancay Project, which develops several lines of action, including the “Street Children” project. This initiative aims to identify children living or working on the streets—who, at an early age, strive to help generate financial resources for their families, postponing their childhood and the full enjoyment of this developmental stage—in order to provide them with essential items such as clothing, toys, books, and school supplies.

The beneficiary families live in poverty and extreme poverty, facing severe limitations in accessing fundamental rights such as food security, housing, and basic sanitation. These hardships directly impact their living conditions and overall quality of life, particularly affecting the academic progress and healthy development of children and adolescents.

To carry out this solidarity project, volunteers travel across different areas to identify and assist vulnerable families. Five bicycles (Elops) will be allocated to volunteers traveling through towns and communities to locate and assist vulnerable families, and five bicycles (Rockrider) will be delivered directly to vulnerable children identified by Cáritas Abancay.

Naturally, the event was also carbon neutral, minimizing direct CO2 emissions wherever possible and offsetting the remainder through tree planting. “The extraordinary work of NGOs such as Cáritas Abancay (Peru) and Madre Coraje (Spain) allows teams from any company to transform teamwork into solidarity through international projects that connect people, businesses, and NGOs with a shared purpose.”

On March 16th, a Sustainable Team Building Event in Madrid was organized, specifically at Jardín de Somontes, where participants (part of a multinational corporation’s team) achieved a €900 micro-donation for the NGO World Central Kitchen. Founded in 2010 by Chef José Andrés, WCK’s goal is to be first to the frontlines, providing meals in response to humanitarian, climate, and community crises.

The Sustainable Development Goal selected for the event was SDG 2 Zero Hunger, with the goal of donating the raised funds to World Central Kitchen, which carries out international relief projects wherever the need arises, with active missions currently in Ukraine, Chile, and since February 6th, most notably in Turkey and Syria, where as of this publication date WCK has already served over 12 million meals. Social Impact| SDG 4 Quality Education

Live Aid Rock © CSR Project is a musical workshop and rock concert with measurable social impact created by Uno+Uno Team in 2024. Many children and young people face barriers to accessing music due to various factors, such as their socioeconomic situation, access to instruments, or disabilities. Live Aid Rock seeks to eliminate these barriers. Musical education enriches our society and opens opportunities, but it is not merely a means to an end: it is also an end in itself. It provides children and young people with the opportunity to express themselves, explore their creativity, strive for something, persevere, and shine. These experiences and achievements remain with them and shape their lives.

Through Live Aid Rock © CSR Project, dozens of children, young people, and people with functional diversity have received electric guitars and amplifiers within the framework of the non-profit entities they are users of. The donations have been made both locally in Spain and internationally in Peru. The non-profit entities that have received donations to date are: Fundación A LA PAR, Fundación APASCOVI, and Madre Coraje ONG.
