What is a Team Building Event?

Well-developed and well-managed, Team Building is an excellent tool for energising work teams. Our formative Team Building programmes are based on Experiential Learning (Learning by Doing) and create scenarios that place participants and teams in an unusual environment outside their typical comfort zones, with all the learning opportunities that entails.
The success of a team depends not so much on the talent, qualifications, or intelligence of its members, but rather on how the behaviours of each individual accommodate and complement one another.
If we try to list the ideal qualities of the perfect teammate, we will realise that many of them are often mutually exclusive: decisive and reflective, strong-charactered yet sensitive to the feelings of others, skilled at communicating but also at listening, and so on.
However, although probably no single individual can combine all these ideal, yet often incompatible qualities, a team certainly can, and indeed frequently does. For this reason, it is not the individual but the team that constitutes the key instrument for achieving sustained and lasting success in the development of projects in environments as diverse as education, sports, or the workplace.
A winning team possesses within it a reserve of experience, information, and judgement, all of which are accumulated and shared. This reserve can be passed on from some members to others as, for example, veterans retire and new members arrive. Furthermore, a team can be in 10 places at once.
